Good news for frequent flyers who love wine – which is for the most part everyone reading this blog – Club W is offering both new and current wine club members an opportunity to earn TrueBlue rewards points when they purchase wine online.
TrueBlue Points for Buying Wine with Club W
Currently, Club W members who are also members of JetBlue’s TrueBlue rewards program can earn 2,500 TrueBlue points when they order wine through the Club W (Now known as “Winc”) wine club. You’ll earn 1,500 TrueBlue Points on your first order, and then an additional 1,000 points on your second order. In addition, you’ll continue to receive 1,000 TrueBlue points for every 24 bottles you order after your first 2 orders.
All you need to do is signup to become a Club W wine club member and then navigate to the “Invite Friends” tab under your account menu in the top right of their dashboard. Scroll to the bottom under TrueBlue Rewards and add your JetBlue TrueBlue rewards number, along with the exact name on your TrueBlue account. That’s it! Just start ordering wine and Club W will track your progress towards earning 1,000 TrueBlue points.
Is it worth it?
If you plan on buying wine with Club W, it doesn’t hurt to earn some points with JetBlue in the process. Signing up for JetBlue’s TrueBlue rewards program is free, too. In terms of accrual rates, it’s relatively minimal – though you can get a free roundtrip flight with as little 3,000 TrueBlue points (when fares are low or they’re running a sale). This offer will be most valuable to those who drink a lot wine, enjoy Club W, and also fly frequently on JetBlue.
A Little Background on Club W
I’m only a recent customer of Club W, but so far I love their business model. Not only do they fully embrace sustainable practices from vine to shipment, they work with Vintners all over the globe to craft small lot boutique wines. Their wines are actually crafted at their own facility within California’s Central Coast.
They’ve made wine personal for the consumer, allowing both new and current members to take a palate profile quiz which helps determine what style of wine is best suited to your taste buds. Note that they do require a minimum of 3 bottles per order, and if you order 4 they’ll cover the shipping costs.
Club W Encourages Sustainable Winemaking and Distribution
By making wine at their own, brand new facility, they’ve effectively cut out all middlemen in the typical supply chain. They take in the grapes, use professional winemakers to craft wines that can’t be found anywhere else, and ship them directly to you. The result? Unique wines that can’t be found in retail establishments, at a price that in any other instance would be significantly higher.
Their carbon footprint is also minimized with fewer moving pieces. Club W also uses reusable totes to send wine to their bottling and distribution facility. The packaging your wine arrives in is also made of recycled packaging materials.
Background on the JetBlue’s TrueBlue Rewards Program
JetBlue’s rewards program allows for flight redemption with no blackout dates on both one way and round trip fares. The amount of points required to book flights will vary greatly, as the TrueBlue program functions on a fixed-value model. In other words, the amount of points required are tied directly to the cash value of the flight.
Current valuation runs at about 1.4 cents per point (mile). If you’re booking a flight, consider using points for available economy fares (‘Blue’), as you won’t be getting a great value with their upgraded classes. In fact, you’re getting a better value if you purchase the flight in cash for either of their ‘Blue Plus’ or ‘Blue Flex’ seats.
